AMD's much-anticipated premium graphics card, the AMD Vega 10, may be launched this May. It is expected to go on a head-to-head clash with NVIDIA's upcoming NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti, which is expected to be released this March.

It was during the RRA GPU certification when the AMD Vega 10 took the limelight, sweeping off the feet of enthusiasts waiting for next big thing in the graphics processing unit (GPU) industry. It reportedly outperformed its rumored rival, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, which also underwent the same evaluation. The GPU of AMD apparently gave more impressive performance than that of NVIDIA.

For those curious, RRA is the National Radio Research Agency in South Korea. It is the one responsible for conducting and approving products that are manufactured by Silicon-based companies before they come out in the market, Segment Next reported.

The RRA certification of Vega 10 indicates that the manufacturing of the units will definitely happen in the next couple of months.

The premium specs of Vega 10 are speculated to have several versions available. Furthermore, an upcoming Vega 11 is set to come out after the Vega 10, but it caters to budget-conscious gamers. The Vega 11 is believed to be launched at the same time with the AMD Vega 10.

The AMD Vega 10 offers multiple applications for different kinds of users. The company has just demonstrated what the graphics card has in store at the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017. During the event, the company boasted Vega inside a Ryzen-based PC, according to WCCF Tech.

Vega 10 is measured at 500mm2 and carries two HBM2 stacks with 16 GB of HBM2. The variant is presented with a demo using "Star Wars: Battlefront" and "DOOM," showcasing 8 GB of HBM2 VRAM.

It also has the most recent 14nm GFX9 core architecture, aside from the 64 Compute Units or 4,096 stream processors. The company is also planning to increase the GPU's clock speed so as to boost its throughput.
