'American Horror Story' Season 4 Spoilers, Recap: Magical Thinking Brings More Blood And Murder
"Magical Thinking," the latest episode in "American Horror Story: Freak Show," delved into how Jimmy (Evan Peters) got his lobster-like hands chopped off.
The show focused on the dubious past of Chester (Neil Patrick Harris) who might have murdered his wife and her lover.
Stanley (Denis O'Hare) put his plan for Jimmy's hands into action by telling him that in exchange for one of his unique hands, Jimmy could get a lot of money and use it to hire a lawyer. Convinced, Jimmy drank Stanley's knockout potion after which he was transported in an ambulance to a hospital. When Jimmy awoke, he realized that Stanley had betrayed him and chopped off both his hands.
Meanwhile, back at the freak show, Chester arrived with his magician's act, but Elsa (Jessica Lange) found it useless. Elsa decided to keep him on when she noticed that he was good with numbers and could help with the bookkeeping.
Bette and Dot (Sarah Paulson) afterwards met Chester who recruited them to help in his magic act of sawing a person in two. In a flashback, it is then revealed that Chester found his wife in bed with another woman and his ventriloquist's dummy Marjorie, then murdered them.
Back in the present, the twins who got drawn towards Chester convinced him to sleep with them, but he could not give up his dummy and brought it to bed with him. Dandy (Finn Wittrock), who had an investigator keeping an eye on the twins, was infuriated with this, but when he learned of Chester's past he used it insinuate that Marjorie was alive. Chester then met with Marjorie in human form, and she convinced him to saw the twins in half as part of the show.
Dell (Michael Chiklis), meanwhile, managed to help his son Jimmy escape from jail and brought him to the freak show. Elsa then sold the freak show to Chester for a thousand dollars and started packing, but when she discovered that Dell was the person who suffocated MA Petite she shot him in the head.
