Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Galaxy Note 4 for T-Mobile Users Approved; Release Date Set for This Week
Owners of T-Mobile's Galaxy Note 4 can now rejoice as the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be coming to their devices soon.
T-Mobile Senior Product Manager Des Smith tweeted that the software update has been approved and the rollout will start this week without mentioning a specific date.
"This just in!!! Technical Acceptance on #Note4 Lollipop software update achieved! Should start to rollout next week! Woot woot!" Smith posted on Twitter on April 25.
T-Mobile will update its devices over the air.
Android 5.0 Lollipop features material design with "bold, colorful, and responsive UI design for consistent, intuitive experiences across all your devices."
With the update, users can view and reply to messages directly even from a locked screen. A feature introduced in the update will also allow users the option to hide sensitive content in their phones.
Incoming phone calls will also not interrupt a user who is watching or playing on his or her device.
According to Android, the Lollipop has a battery saver feature that can extend the device by up to 90 minutes.
The software update also features SELinux, which offers protection against malware, and the Android Smart Lock, which can secure your phone by pairing it with a wearable or your car.
Android 5.0 Lollipop also allows multiple users for phone.
"If you forget your phone, you still can call any of your friends (or access any of your messages, photos etc.) by simply logging into another Android phone running Lollipop," according to Android.com.
Lollipop also showcases new controls including flashlight, hotspot, screen rotation and cast screen controls with easier toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and location.
It also has "power-efficient scanning for nearby Bluetooth low energy ("BLE") devices like wearables or beacons."
As to media, Lollipop brings bolder graphics and improved audio, video and camera qualities.
Lollipop users can capture full resolution frames around 30 fps and can capture images in YUV anBayer Raw formats.
It also has state-of-the-art video technology that allows UHD 4K video playback.
