From experience, users know that it's the Nexus series of smartphones that received the latest Android updates at the soonest time possible.

However, in the case of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, there has been some slight delay with the roll out first being scheduled for availability only for the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.

Although the roll out was initially scheduled for Nov. 5, the release of the Android update was postponed for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10. According to Know Your Mobile, the roll out took place on Nov. 12 instead.

It wasn't an arbitrary or random decision to take, though. There were technical considerations that were primarily responsible for the delay. In the case of the Nexus 5, for example, there was a battery issue that did not sit well with the idea of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update happening soon.

The problem mostly had to do with the way Nexus 5 batteries drain quickly after a Wi-Fi connection is established. With the update, users have been hoping to receive a solution to the problem.

That's because the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is reputed to have an efficient battery-saving mode. This mode can intuitively lessen the demand on the CPU of a smartphone. It can also terminate any running background data, should the battery reach critical point, or become very near to discharging.

The good news is that the battery problem has already been fixed.
