Android 5.0 Lollipop Update On Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date To Be Available Soon In U.S.

It is no surprise that Samsung has delayed pushing out the new Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system to its devices as the company has been busy working on customizing it. However, recent rumors and postings on websites indicated that the new operating system could roll out to Galaxy S5 users in the United States soon.

Earlier this month, Samsung rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop to Galaxy S5 users in the United Kingdom. Before the update launched in the U.K., Galaxy S5 users in other countries in Europe such as a Russia, Spain and Poland were treated to the new operating system.

As part of the U.K. update, AndroidPit reported that Galaxy S5 users got the Android 5.0 version and not the latest Android 5.0.2. To get the Android 5.0.2 operating system, Galaxy S5 users will have to wait for around a month or so as Samsung is busy working on integrating it with the TouchWiz skin.

Rumors of the Galaxy S5 receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system in January first sufaced in December when a Samsung employee posted an internal email on a Reddit forum. The email revealed that many of Samsung's devices would start getting the new OS in January. However, the user subsequently deleted his profile.

Moderators of the forum were quick to point out that the employee had proved that he was working for Samsung and this led to his profile being verified.

The anonymous tipster also informed users on the forum that the Galaxy S5 would be the first Samsung mobile device to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. Other devices --such as the popular Galaxy Note 4 phablet and the Note Edge with its curved display -- would be the next devices to receive the update. Afterward, the update would become available for users of the older Galaxy Note 3 phablet and the Galaxy S4 smartphone. Samsung's line of tablets would then be updated with the new OS.
