T-Mobile's Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 7 (2013) tablet are also scheduled for the same update.
Sprint, for its part, made the Android 5.1 Lollipop update available for its Nexus 6 phablet last Thursday, reminding all users that it comes in stages, which will cause the update to completely arrive after several days.
Venture Capital Post advised Android fans to make sure their phones have at least 55 percent battery before getting the update, which is 222mb heavy.
It added the update will fix several issues in 5.0, bringing new impressive features and showcasing unnamed performance, stability improvements and bug fixes.
The update will also heighten the protection of users' devices with its Activation Lock feature while lost or stolen device will remain locked until the owner's registered Google account signs in.
Even if someone else resets the device to factory settings, the devices will remain locked as it will be integrated with Lollipop's full disk encryption feature.
High Definition voice calling feature gives crystal clear calling between compatible T-Mobile and Verizon Nexus 6 devices.
However, in a statement posted on Twitter, Des Smith of T-Mobile confirmed that Wi-Fi calling will be a separate update, not included in the 5.1 OTA.
The update will also provide improvements like the facility to join Wi-Fi networks and control of paired Bluetooth devices right from the Quick Settings.
Tweaks in the Quick Settings animate each icon when tapping it. With the new Quick Settings, hopping between Wi-Fi access points and Bluetooth devices can be made with the new dropdown arrows.
