Android 7.0 Nougat vs iOS 10 specs, features review: What Google OS has that Apple landmark OS is missing

The initial release of the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat has prompted comparisons with Apple's iOS 10, which is expected to launch next month.

There are several features that the latest Google mobile operating system has that iOS users would certainly like to see on its next Apple software iteration.

The first big one is the Android 7.0 Nougat's ability to run two apps at the same time, allowing users to do some serious multitasking. The apps will be accessible all at once as they will be both displayed on the screen.

Apple has done the same thing, but the company made it exclusive to iPads only. Google's Android 7.0 Nougat allows it on smartphones as well as tablets.

The Android OS will also take Quick Settings to the next level by allowing users to "edit" and select what goes where in the notification panel to their convenience.

Apple, however, will revamp its Control Center in iOS 10, but it is more inclined in simplifying the design and the navigation with the phone settings.

Another exciting bit about Android 7.0 Nougat is the integration of the Daydream virtual reality (VR) platform. It is not available yet, but it will soon be.

Of course, Apple will eventually bring in the same thing on the iOS with the tech giant already expressing interest and with the VR technology quickly becoming the norm in mobile.

But for now, Business Insider points that Android 7.0 Nougat is the way to go for mobile VR experience. However, the site says that Apple will not allow the iOS 10 to be late to the party although there's no official word yet about VR on the software.

The other nice touch Google had on Android 7.0 Nougat that iOS 10 users would not want to miss is the improved Doze Mode.

This feature allows the smartphone to detect when it is not in use. It will know when it is placed inside a bag or the user's pocket for a long period of time and will then automatically launch battery saver.

The Android 7.0 Nougat is now available to select handsets while iOS 10, still in beta stage, rolls out to iPhone and iPad this September.
