Android Nougat latest update: Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge soon to be given update
Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge recently received an Android Nougat update, but it is only available in the United States. Users from other locations are expecting that the update will come to their handsets by next week.
Users who registered for the S7 Android Nougat Beta program will receive the update first. They have to allot about 215 MB of space to install the software successfully, indicating that the update contains heavy data.
As reported by IB Times, the Nougat update for Galaxy S7 Edge will be rolled out in two versions. The first one is called G935FXXU1DPLT while the other one is G935FOXA1DPLT. Both codes are said to be specific to the handset's processor, specifically for Qualcomm and Exynos processors.
The update is anticipated for the changelog seen in the Galaxy S7 Edge, including better notifications, Quick settings buttons, TouchWiz UX and of course, the popular multiwindow function. The much-talked-about Always On display is also reportedly enhanced by the update, resulting in longer battery life.
Those who are utilizing Gear Icon X, however, are advised to update their wireless headphones prior to updating their S7 to the latest Android Nougat.
Those who already got 215 MB free space in their handsets are also advised to do the necessary backup of files as there may still be instances of having their data deleted. To do this, users can simply go to the S7's Settings, choose Backup & Reset and tap "Backup My Data" and "Automatic Restore."
Meanwhile, an apparent leak has got the European users rejoicing as the Android Nougat may hit their S7 on Jan. 17.
While Galaxy S7 users are rejoicing for the upcoming software, owners of HTC 10 are disappointed by the delayed release of Nougat on their own smartphones. HTC has originally announced the rolling out of the update in November, but there were bugs seen in the software, prompting the company to delay the Nougat's release. It is expected that the company is fixing the bugs and will be able to have an improved software version soon.
