Apple iOS 10.2 problems latest news: Worsened battery issues to be resolved with iOS 10.2.1 update?
The nightmares of a growing number of iPhone users who have been experiencing serious battery problems are far from over. Instead of resolving the widespread issue, reports now claim that the new iOS 10.2 update has only worsened the situation.
Earlier this month, Apple admitted that the battery problem raised by some iPhone users was more widespread than they initially believed it to be. Hence, they previously stated that they would add a diagnostic feature to the oncoming iOS software update to gather more information in improving the algorithms that are used in managing Apple devices' battery performance and shutdown operations.
If the company is successful in making improvements, they would be delivering it through further iOS updates.
Aside from this, Apple has also launched a battery replacement program intended for iPhone users who are affected by the issue. However, according to BGR, the program only catered to users with an iPhone 6s that is manufactured in September or October 2015. Hence, users of older iPhones had no other recourse than to anxiously wait for the release of iOS 10.2
However, the new iOS update had done nothing more than worsen the reported battery issues. As reported by Forbes, impacted models range from the iPhone 6s all the way to the iPhone 5.
The newly exacerbated battery issue presents itself in several ways. For example, iPhones are still shutting down at 30%, but now users also claim that their phone's battery readings get stuck at a higher percentage before dropping to 30% and completely shutting down.
Even with the issues raised concerning the effect of iOS 10.2 in some iPhone models' battery performance and shutdown operations, it is not yet recommended for Apple users to jump ship and pick up a phone from the company's competitors.
Aside from the diagnostic tool incorporated in the current update, Apple's iOS 10.2.1 update is reportedly in beta testing already. The beta version of the upcoming update somehow has managed to address and resolve the battery problem. Hence, there is still enough reason to remain hopeful and loyal to the phone brand.
