Apple Watch Apps Review: More Than 40 Apps Available on App Store Aside From Built-In Apps
Following the launch of the much-awaited Apple Watch during Apple's "Spring Forward" event in San Francisco, California, on Monday, more than 40 apps for the watch have been remodelled and are now available on the App Store. Moreover, Apple has also included a number of built-in apps in the watch. Here's how these apps work.
Built-In Apps
The Apple Watch has a number of built-in apps that allow users to do a variety of tasks including sending and receiving messages via the Mail app and taking phone calls with the Phone app. The Activity App, one that Apple has focused on a lot, allows for daily monitoring of exercise and activity and shows progress made against goals. The Workout app is another exercise-related app which displays statistics in real time. The figures cover calories burnt, distance, time taken and speed. The Passbook app and Maps app will be useful to travelers as the former can be used to store boarding passes and tickets, while the later will provide directions when driving.
Siri the Assistant app will also be available and the Camera Remote app will be able to control the camera on the paired iPhone while another Remote app will control Apple TV.
App Store Apps
On the App Store, users who purchase the Apple Watch will be able to download and use a number of neat apps, including the Target app which will guide users while shopping. The SPG app will allow users to check-in at Starwood Hotels and even open the door to their room. When it comes to exercise, the Nike +Running app and the Runtastic app will calculate and display distance, pace and duration. If you just want a taxi and do not want to run or walk, the Uber app will be able to get one for you without you having to use your phone.
Coming to social media interaction, there are several apps that can be used including the Instagram app which will allow users to like photos and view those in their feed. Users will also be able to check their feed via the Twitter app and dictate tweets.
