The solo debut of the king of Atlantis is set to premiere in October 2018. Aquaman, to be played by "Game of Thrones" star Jason Momoa, might be facing multiple villains in the film.

Directed by James Wan, "Aquaman" is set to premiere in October 2018, with Jason Momoa slated to portray the titular role. Aside from Momoa, other cast members include Amber Heard as the Queen of Atlantis named Mera, and "Spiderman" villain Willem Dafoe as Aquaman's ally, Vulko, Den of Geek reports.

The synopsis of the film reads, "Aquaman is the King of the Seven Seas. This reluctant ruler of Atlantis, caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt, is committed to protecting the entire globe."

At the Australians in Film Awards Gala at NeueHouse in Hollywood last October, Wan shared with Entertainment Tonight what fans can expect from the storyline of "Aquaman."

"The spirit that I'm going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story ... It's ultimately a quest story in the spirit of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' meets 'Romancing the Stone,'" Wan said.

In related news, it has been confirmed that Patrick Wilson will be playing the villain and half-brother of Aquaman, Orm. Orm is insecure of his brother, and he thinks he is more deserving to be king of the Atlanteans. Orm is famously known as Ocean Master.

Aside from Orm, another villain will reportedly go against Aquaman in his solo film. According to The Wrap, it is possible that Black Manta will also be an antagonist in Wan's movie, although the role has not been cast yet.

The rumor that Black Manta will appear as a villain in the upcoming film has not been confirmed, but it is possible that Aquaman will be facing two villains, with one of the two serving only as a secondary bad guy in the film.

"Aquaman" is set to premiere on Oct. 5, 2018.
