The eighth season of FX's animated comedy series "Archer" is going to start airing next month, but information about the upcoming season has been scarce lately. Is Sterling Archer (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) still alive after what happened in season 7?

Fear not, the show is titled "Archer" for a reason. A trailer was shown at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July and it was revealed that Archer is alive. Unfortunately, he is in a coma. FX has yet to release the trailer online after all these months, but thankfully IndieWire was kind enough to give a detailed description of what they saw.

In the trailer, Archer's mother Malory (voiced by Jessica Walter) and his girlfriend Lana (voiced by Aisha Tyler) were standing by his bedside while the camera zooms in to show viewers what Archer was thinking of — Dreamland.

Apparently, everything is going to be turned upside down in Dreamland. Archer is now a private investigator and the other characters also have new roles in this world.

Archer creator Adam Reed explained that the setting gives them the opportunity to play around with the characters, and he seems excited about the possibilities this offers. "Archer is meeting all these characters for the first time in the first episode. I really don't know where that will lead us, but I'm really excited to be writing it," he said.

He also revealed that Malory will be called "M" in this world. And that's not all — in Dreamland, Lana is a singer, Krieger (voiced by Lucky Yates) is a bartender, Ray (voiced by Adam Reed) is a trumpeter, and Cyril (voiced by Chris Parnell) and Pam (voiced by Amber Nash) are going to be detectives.

Reed also included a hilarious twist to Pam. "She's living as a man," he revealed. It will be interesting to see how Nash voices her character next season.

"Archer" season 8 is scheduled to premiere in January 2017 on FX.
