Ariel Camacho Dead: 'El Karma' Mexican Singer Dies In Car Accident After Performing in Music Fest

Promising Mexican singer Ariel Camacho died on Wednesday in Sinaloa, Mexico, after the car he was traveling in was involved in an accident.

Camacho, 22, was on his way home after performing at the Carnaval de Mocorito music festival, where he sang his latest hit "El Karma," when the car he was traveling in with four others suddenly careened off the road and crashed on a drainage ditch.

The accident which happened at 3 a.m. in the morning killed two other passengers of the car while the other two occupants were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident, but police said the car appeared to be speeding.

Details about this death were released by his record company Del Records. Its CEO Angel Del Villar said, "My heart is broken by the loss of Ariel Camacho, he was like a son to me."

Soon after news of Camacho's death spread, Mexican musicians including Gerardo Ortiz, Bob Vega, Fidel Rued, Karla Sierra and Luis Coronel conveyed their condolences to Camacho's family via social media.

On Tuesday night, Camacho was invited as a guest performer during the music festival in Mocorito town, 62 miles northwest of Culiacan, Mexico.

Camacho was a singer who performed songs belonging to the "grupera" genre and has signed on with Del Records, which is a Los Angeles-based company.

Camacho, who hailed from Guasave, Sinaloa, fashioned much of his songs around the town and its drug culture. He was the lead singer in the group named "Los Plebes del Rancho" which in English means "the ranch's plebeians." He played the guitar, tuba and recently put much effort into mastering the requinto guitar. He was on tour promoting his latest album while working on a new project when the road accident claimed his life.
