Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim has spoken about Arrow Season 3 becoming more and more popular even before its premiere. "Arrow's starting to win the hearts of the city", he said.

Regarding the arrival of a different kind of opponent, Guggenheim commented, "He's not like Sebastian Blood, looking at Oliver with disdain. Oliver quite frankly just doesn't play this guy's level."

He added, "We know from Episode 216 that Oliver and Amanda Waller really do not like each other. You'll see in the premiere why that is."

Amy Gumenick will be joining the cast as "Cupid", together with other actors Brandon Routh as Atom, David Cubitt as Manhunter and J.R. Ramirez as Wildcat

Another Executive Producer for Arrow, Andrew Keisberg, talked about a new character. "When I was writing the comic book, my big goal was to create a villain who would last," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"Cupid has since appeared in the DC Nation shorts on Cartoon Network, and to have her fight our TV Arrow is so much more than I ever could have hoped for the character", he added.

The synopsis for season 3 reads: "In the aftermath of this victory, Season Three opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen – not as long as the city needs The Arrow."

Arrow Season 3 will be airing on The CW starting Tuesday, October 8.
