Michael Fassbender admitted that he is not a gamer prior to filming his role as Callum Lynch in the film adaptation of Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed."

The action-adventure video game franchise had been around since 2007, but the actor confessed that he only played the game once to prepare for the movie.

"I am not a gamer," Fassbender said during a press conference in Berlin as reported by Times of Malta. "But I did play it once I'd come on board to sort of get an idea of the world, to see what the guys at (video game developer) Ubisoft had created and also to get an idea of ... some of the shapes for the characters."

The movie adaptation of "Assassin's Creed" will follow Callum's adventures as he goes back in time to relive the memories of his Spanish ancestor named Aguilar de Nerha — one of the Assassins that lived during the Spanish Inquisition era during the 15th century. He will have to face against the Assassins' mortal enemies called the Templar Order from the past, as well as the organization's present day counterpart called the Abstergo Industries.

Aside from Fassbender, the film also stars Marion Cotillard as Sophia Rikkin, the head scientist of Abstergo Foundation's Animus project. They are also joined by Jeremy Irons as Sophia's father and Abstergo Industries CEO Alan Rikkin, Brendan Gleeson as Callum's father Joseph Lynch, as well as Michael K. Williams who will portray the role of Moussa and his Haitian Assassin predecessor named Baptiste.

Before the film's release on Wednesday, Dec. 21, New Regency and 20th Century Fox launched a virtual reality (VR) experience for the "Assassin's Creed" movie that was released for free using the Oculus Video app since Thursday, Dec. 1. This can be viewed using VR devices such as the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR.

Meanwhile, those who can drop by any AMC theaters in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin, and New York City can also enjoy the "Assassin's Creed" VR experience through the theaters' Oculus Rift demo kiosks from Dec. 2 until Jan. 1.
