'Assassin's Creed Syndicate' news, updates: Game gets new 4K PlayStation 4 Pro patch
This holiday season could be a good time to revisit "Assassin's Creed Syndicate."
According to reports, Ubisoft's 2015 game Assassin's Creed Syndicate got an unexpected update this week, with the addition of PS4 Pro support for the action-adventure installment. Patch notes reveal that the latest update includes 4K support for the PS4 Pro console. Unfortunately, a rundown of complete details about update 1.5 is still not available. Some games that are already patched for PS4 Pro are said to appear better on 1080p TV sets, but this might not be the same for Syndicate. Other media outlets claim the patch did nothing significant to the original game, which still looks the same as it did before the update.

Additionally, Time points out that the original game rendered 900p support. Upon updating with the 4K PS4 Pro support, there wasn't any improvement seen in the game's visual quality. Distant objects including stones in walls and roads, brick facades as well as industrial smokestacks viewed from a high place seem sharper and less prone to shimmering. However, the publication claims that it could be the 4K television's way of upscaling the picture and not the update itself.
While this probably won't be a huge issue for "Assassin's Creed" fans, it is certainly frustrating for some gamers who purchased an expensive console and saw little changes in the game's overall quality. With that in mind, there is a possibility that the developer will add new textures and effects in the coming months.
Aside from Syndicate, "Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection" also received a PS4 Pro patch recently to support Sony's new console. Patch notes for the game indicate "4K dynamic rendering" as one of the features, but Ubisoft did not reveal anything specific about improvements on visual quality.
