The official television channel of American Atheists, AtheistTV, has announced its plans to debut a days-long program entitled "War on Christmas" this holiday season.

The AtheistTV program, which will air on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, will feature "original programs proclaiming the truth about Christmas on December 24 and December 25, featuring scholars and celebrities from the atheist community."

According to the station's program guide, shows that will be featured during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day include "No Mercy on Christmas" and the "Complete Heretic's Guide to Xmas."

In a press release announcing their planned program, American Atheists president Dave Silverman said: "Christmas is hard for many atheists, so we will provide programming free from superstition and fairy tales that allows families to watch together and not worry about being preached at."

The American Atheists have also started a national billboard campaign this holiday season that has erected anti-Christmas billboards in the Midwest and the south. Many of the billboards erected by the American Atheists read: "Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is to skip church! I'm too old for fairy tales."

Believers across the country have countered the anti-Christmas messages with billboards of their own that try to explain the true meaning of Christmas. One small business owner in North Carolina erected his own billboard that read: "Merry Christmas," with the word "Christ" underlined and accompanied by an image of the nativity.

Another church in Arkansas was able to erect its own billboards inviting those with doubts about faith this holiday season to come visit their church.
