'Attack on Titan' Season 2 air date, latest news 2016: Season 1 rerun happening this October before Spring 2017 premiere of season 2
There is still no confirmed report about the much-anticipated Season 2 premiere of "Attack on Titan." There are long-running speculations that the second season of the worldwide hit anime series will be released early next year. Specifically, the first episode of Season 2 is being expected by many to be aired sometime in Spring 2017. Just recently, it was announced that a Tokyo-based TV station will be re-airing all the 25 episodes of "Attack on Titan" Season 1, which could suggest that the Season 2 premiere is now fast approaching.
According to YIbada, Tokyo MX will have a rerun of the first season of "Attack on Titan," also known as "Shingeki no Kyojin" in Japanese. The first season rerun is reported to begin in October this year. Aside from the complete 25 episodes of Season 1, the scheduled rerun next month will be including four OAD episodes for the series, namely "Ilse's Notebook: Memoirs of a Recon Corps Member," "The Sudden Visitor: The Torturous Curse of Youth," "Distress" and "No Regrets," as revealed in "Attack on Titan's" official Twitter page.
The online publication speculates that the set Season 1 rerun in October is a way to build the hype for the upcoming second season. According to earlier rumors, "Attack on Titan" Season 2 will premiere in Spring 2017, although there is no confirmed exact date yet of its release. Possibly, the Season 2 premiere may fall in April next year.
Meanwhile, iTech Post reported that the production stage of "Attack on Titan" Season 2 is already ongoing, and it is in fact a top priority of the production team, especially its director, Tetsuro Araki. It was noted that Araki may have been very busy with completing "Attack on Titan" Season 2 that he is no longer focused on his other hit anime series, "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress."
In the next season of "Attack on Titan," the Survey Corps is expected to face new enemies, particularly a new type of Titan. The protagonists of the story will also get to meet the biggest, and perhaps the most intelligent of all titans existing in the world. This new titan slated to appear in the next chapter is known as the Beast or Ape Titan in the manga version. He is said to be bigger than the Colossal Titan while also having the same intelligence of a human when fighting as a titan.
