'Attack on Titan' season 2 plot rumors: First episode takes place in Dr. Yeager's basement? Erwin dies?
Wit Studio has yet to officially announce any details about the upcoming "Attack on Titan" season 2, leaving fans to speculate about how the next chapter in the popular anime television series will unfold.
The second season of "Attack on Titan" was recently confirmed after many years of silence from Wit Studio. The freshman season of the anime adaptation premiered in Japan in 2013 and on Adult Swim's Toonami block in 2014. Recent rumors about the upcoming season indicate that it will introduce a whole new cast of characters and that its storyline will diverge from that of the first season.
Recently, there have been rumors that the first episode of the new season will be titled "Basement" after its manga counterpart. The episode could reportedly have Levi, Eren, Mikasa, Armin and Sasha visiting Dr. Yeager's basement, where they will learn that there is life beyond the walls that protect them.
Another report suggests that aside from this, Chief Erwin could sustain serious injuries from a fierce battle, leading to his death. In the wake of his passing, Hanji will be named the new leader and the team will take on the Titans without their former chief. The website notes that it will be very hard for the gang to defeat the Titans without Erwin.
In addition, there are rumors that new Titans will be introduced in season 2, including the Beast Titans and some that resemble apes. The Beast Titans are said to be extremely powerful and their introduction to "Attack on Titan" will add a whole new level of tension to the anime. Apart from these two new kinds of Titans, more are expected to emerge in the latter part of the upcoming season.
Earlier this month, a source suggested that "Attack on Titan" writer Hajime Isayama has written three new arcs that may be enough to cover the entire second season of the anime. Prior to this, fans theorized that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will adapt the "Clash of the Titans" and the "Uprising" arcs from the manga.
"Attack on Titan" season 2 is expected to be out by spring 2017.
