'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date, spoilers: first sneak peek showed Eren's Titan transformation
The long wait is over for "Attack on Titan" fans, as the first look for the animated show's second season had been released right in time for the holidays.
For the first time since the anime adaptation of Hajime Isayama's best-selling manga of the same title came out in 2013, both Funimation Entertainment and Kodansha released the trailer at the same time. It means both Western and Japanese fans were able to watch the season 2 trailer of "Attack on Titan" simultaneously.
Based on the trailer, the Scout Regiment will be facing a lot of new difficulties as they try to defend themselves and humanity against the man-eating Titans. But it seems like Eren Yeager and the rest of the Scouts will be facing more Titans this time, including a number of new creepy-looking giants as well as the latest big nemesis known as the Beast Titan.
The trailer also showed that in one of the upcoming episodes of "Attack on Titan" season 2, Eren will make use of his ability to transform into a Titan to be able to fight one of his biggest enemies.
Also, the trailer revealed that humanity is being protected by other Titans from their fellow Titans for a long time.
The second season of "Attack on Titan" was announced through a press release of Funimation CEO and founder Gen Fukunaga that was reported by iDigitalTimes early this month. According to Fukunaga, "Attack on Titan became an instant hit since it first streamed in 2013 and we are thrilled to bring fans the long-awaited Season 2 of the series. Attack on Titan is truly a worldwide phenomenon that has continued to grow at a non-stop pace. Fans can look forward to an exciting second season."
Aside from the sneak peek for the plot of "Attack on Titan" season 2, the newly released trailer also revealed that the animated series drop its premiere episode sometime in April 2017.
