James Cameron's "Avatar" turned out to be one of the biggest movies of 2009, and Cameron is reportedly working on a bunch of sequels that will put the audience back to the world of Pandora and the Na'vi. Cameron is reportedly aiming to make a 3D movie without the need for the audience to wear glasses.

According to Indiewire, Cameron made the announcement of his plans while he accepted an honorary membership into the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. Cameron said, "I'm going to push. Not only for better tools, workflow, high dynamic range (HDR) and high frame rates (HFR) — the things we are working toward. I'm still very bullish on 3D, but we need brighter projection, and ultimately I think it can happen — with no glasses. We'll get there."

Cameron has always been known to be a director that pushes the limits of cinema, though his movies have been known to have the most massive budgets, they always deliver in the box office. Some fans even said that the release of "Avatar" was able to spark a renewed interest in 3D movies, so movie audiences have Cameron to thank for all the 3D movies that have been coming out recently.

Though a lot of fans are still wondering as to how Cameron will be able to pull off glasses-free 3D, he has had a solid track record so far, and audiences have learned not to underestimate him.

As for the story of the sequels, Cameron has said that they will be focusing on Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his family. The movie will also be delving into the struggle of the Na'vi and the humans. "Avatar" had the humans leave Pandora while Jake got his consciousness transferred to his Avatar body. Will the humans be returning to get their hands on more Unobtanium?

"Avatar 2" is set for a release sometime in 2018.
