'Avengers 3 Infinity War' Parts 1 and 2 Release Date, Plot Spoilers: Who's In?
With "Avengers: Age of Ultron" earning $626.7 million globally thus far, all eyes are on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the epic direction it is going. All of Marvel's movies, TV shows and other projects are building up and leading towards the grand battle against the alien warlord known as Thanos. This great event will be covered in two parts – "Avengers: Infinity War Part 1" in 2018 and "Avengers: Infinity War Part 2" in 2019. Both movies will be released in May.
What can we expect from these two monster movies?
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo and writers Stephen McFreely and Christopher Markus, who first worked together in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and who have reteamed for "Captain America: Civil War," have also been tapped to do "Avengers: Infinity War."
What is Tony Stark/Iron Man's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? We know he will go head-to-head with Captain America in "Captain America: Civil War." For now, there is no "Iron Man 4" being planned. It seems very likely that Iron Man will continue to be in "Avengers: Infinity War" since Robert Downey, Jr. reportedly signed a deal to be in the third Avengers movie. Some major "Avengers" characters will reportedly be sidelined in "Avengers: Infinity War" but Iron Man would not be one of them.
What about Steve Rogers/Captain America? We do know that after "Avengers: Age of Ultron," Captain America's adventure will go into epic mode in "Captain America: Civil War." It was, however, during the events of the Civil War when Captain America would die in the comics, with Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier taking on the shield.
If the Civil War movie stays true to the comics, then Steve Rogers may not be in "Avengers: Infinity War." However, Chris Evans has a six-movie contract with Marvel Studios. After "Civil War," he will still have one left.
What about Thor? Thor 3, entitled "Thor: Ragnarok," will deal with the Norse version of the apocalypse hitting Asgard. With Loki sitting on the throne at the end of "Thor: The Dark World," it doesn't bode well for our hero. Whether Thor makes it out of this sequel is still not clear, and whether he will be part of "Avengers: The Infinity War," is still a question mark.
Speaking of Captain America and Thor, news has come out from Badass Digest that Marvel is contemplating keeping these major characters out of "Avengers: Infinity War" so that they can keep both Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans under contract and avoid renegotiation. The idea is to focus on newer characters like Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and other secondary Marvel characters. Marvel will then bring both Thor and Captain America back at a later point in the franchise.
A bigger question is whether The Hulk will make an appearance in "Avengers: Infinity War." Unlike his other comrades, the Hulk has no set future. No announcement has been made yet as to when he will be seen next.
Marvel previously stated that it would like to save the Hulk for the Avengers movie. This might be a form of confirmation that we will get to see Bruce Banner and his monster alter ego again in the upcoming Avengers movies.
Black Widow seems almost sure to return in the "Infinity War" movies. A fan favorite, Black Widow also figures prominently in the Captain America adventures and she will be in "Captain America: Civil War." Unless something tragic happens between now and the "Infinity War," we just might see Black Widow involved in the epic adventure, although no formal confirmation has been released yet. But if the news about Thor and Captain America from Badass Digest is true, then Black Widow might possibly be included in that "group."
And Hawkeye? There are reports he will make an appearance in "Captain America: Civil War," but that is as far as everyone knows right now. It makes sense for him to be back in "Avengers: Infinity War," as he is an original Avenger. However, no solo track or movie is planned for him.
