Ben Carson Calls Obama a 'Psychopath'
Possible 2016 presidential candidate Ben Carson is making headlines for reportedly calling President Barack Obama a "psychopath" during the Commander-in-Chief's State of the Union address back in January.
Carson's comments came as he and conservative political commentator Armstrong Williams, Carson's business manager, watched the president's State of the Union address at Williams' home in Washington, D.C. The two men were accompanied by GQ reporter Jason Zengerle.
As the president took the stage to deliver his sixth State of the Union address, GQ reports that Williams said: "He looks good," adding "He looks clean. Shirt's white. The tie. He looks elegant."
"Like most psychopaths," Carson replied, according to GQ. "That's why they're successful. That's the way they look. They all look great."
As the speech began, Williams suggested to Carson that both he and the president face similar obstacles in convincing the American people of their political endeavors.
"He faces the same challenges you will face," Williams said of the president. "He's gotta convince people to believe him. That's all he's doing: selling his narrative."
"But he knows he's telling a lie!" Carson replied. "He's trying to sell what he thinks is not true! He's sitting there saying, 'These Americans are so stupid I can tell them anything.'"
Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, is reportedly actively weighing a 2016 presidential bid. Recently, Texas Senator Ted Cruz announced his GOP bid for president.
A recent pollster by The Huffington Post finds Carson trails in fourth in approval ratings for a 2016 presidential election, behind former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee.
