Ben Carson Says If President, He Would Consider Defunding Colleges With 'Extreme Political Bias'
2016 presidential hopeful Ben Carson said in a recent interview that if he were elected president, he would consider defunding universities that advocate with an extreme political bias.
Carson made his comments in a recent interview with The Blaze's Glenn Beck, who asked the retired neurosurgeon-turned-politician if he would do away with the Depatment of Education if he were to become president.
"I actually have something I would use the Department of Education to do," Carson replied.
"It would be to monitor our institutions of higher education for extreme political bias and deny funding if it exists," the presidential hopeful added.
Carson, an outspoken conservative and evangelical, has long suggested that if he were to become president, he would not be afraid of criticism from the liberal side and the "politically correct police."
"The pledge of allegiance to our flag says we are one nation under God. Many courtrooms in the land, on the wall it says 'In God We Trust.' Every coin in our pocket, every bill in our wallet says 'In God We Trust,'" Carson said at a megachurch event in Georgia earlier this month.
"So if it's in our founding documents, it's in our pledges, in our courts and it's on our money, but we're not supposed to talk about it, what in the world is that? In medicine it's called schizophrenia. And I, for one, am simply not willing to kick God to the curb," the presidential hopeful continued.
"Well, I'll tell you why: it's because America is worth saving. If that means getting into a war with the PC police, I'm ready to fight that war. And I hope you will join me," Carson added.
