'Blade Runner 2049' plot details, spoilers: location of Deckard's hiding place revealed? Will an original replicant character return?
When it was revealed that Harrison Ford is reprising his role as Rick Deckard in "Blade Runner 2049," fans of the original film started asking: Where in the godforsaken world was Deckard hiding all this time? Nobody ever found him and he has been missing for the past 30 years.
Well, a report by Birth.Movies.Death. may shed some light on where he has been. The publication has revealed that multiple sources have told them Deckard has been hiding in what used to be Las Vegas. So, he has been hiding there all along? No wonder nobody could find him.
The official trailer shows K (Ryan Gosling) traveling through the desert before he chances upon a building. There he meets Deckard. Since the first film was set in Los Angeles, people who have seen the trailer had assumed that he was somewhere in the area. But what if it was Las Vegas all along? Nice hiding place, Deckard.
Meanwhile, The Terminator Fans has reported that a replicant character from the first film may return in "Blade Runner 2049." "The digital CG Replicant character's appearance in the movie will be at least 10 shots of film or more, so it won't be a blink of the eye cameo," the publication revealed.
Right now, it isn't clear who that character will be. Will it be Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer), Pris (Daryl Hannah) or Rachael (Sean Young)? There's a chance it may be Leon (Brion James) or Zhora (Joanna Cassidy) as well despite the fact that they died in "Blade Runner."
Now, wouldn't it be ironic if Deckard turns out to be the replicant character that's returning for the sequel? His humanity was never revealed in the first film, but director Ridley Scott believed the character was a replicant. Of course, Ford always believed that Deckard was human.
"Blade Runner 2049" is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 6, 2017.
