Country music star Blake Shelton has admitted to "having a few drinks" before recently tweeting in defense of the film "American Sniper."

Shelton and fellow country music singer Craig Morgan previously defended the film "American Sniper" after celebrities Michael Moore and Seth Rogen criticized the movie as glorifying war.

Moore, a controversial documentarist, described snipers as "cowards" in a recent tweet, arguing that they shoot you in the back. Comedian Rogen likened the movie to a Nazi propaganda film.

Shelton then took to Twitter earlier this week to defend the film, saying: "Proud to support our military.. Period."

"Sickens me to see celebrities or anybody slam the very people who protect their right to talk shit.. #truecowards," the country music star added.

Shelton then sought to clarify his comments in a recent interview with E! News, saying: "Sometimes I probably say things on [Twitter] I shouldn't say. Just like last night, I had a few drinks and had to go off about a movie I want to see."

"I don't take myself that seriously, so I love to get on Twitter and have fun--and I think I make my managers a nervous wreck, but I feel like I've made it to this point, so what's the worst that's gonna happen?" Shelton added.

Country music singer and veteran Craig Morgan also took to Twitter to criticize Rogen's tweets, telling the comedian: "I'm sick and tired of people like you running your mouth when you have no idea what it takes for this country to maintain our freedoms. If you and anyone like you don't like it, leave."
