Country music singer Blake Shelton has spoken out against comments that have criticized the recently-released, highly-popular movie "American Sniper."

Controversial documentary director Michael Moore recently suggested on Twitter that, in reference to "American Sniper," all snipers are "cowards" because they shoot you in the back.

"My uncle killed by sniper in WW2," Moore tweeted earlier this week. "We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren't heroes. And invaders r worse."

Comedian Seth Rogen also garnered criticism for comparing the movie, which stars Bradley Cooper, to a Nazi propaganda film distributed during World War II.

Country music singer Blake Shelton slammed criticism for the movie in a series of tweets.

"I can't WAIT to see American Sniper!!!" Shelton posted on January 19, adding "Proud to support our military.. Period."

"Sickens me to see celebrities or anybody slam the very people who protect their right to talk shit.. #truecowards," Shelton added.

Fellow country music singer and veteran Craig Morgan also blasted those who criticized the U.S. military, writing in a lengthy Facebook post that U.S. servicemen protect the rights, including freedom of speech, of the American people.

"You are fortunate to enjoy the privilege and freedom of working in and living in the United States, and saying whatever you want (regardless of how ignorant the statement) thanks to people like Chris Kyle who serve in the United States military," Morgan wrote in response to Rogen's tweet, calling the comedian's comments "inaccurate and insensitive."

"I'm sick and tired of people like you running your mouth when you have no idea what it takes for this country to maintain our freedoms. If you and anyone like you don't like it, leave," Morgan added.
