Jane Doe is "Jane Doe" no more.

After spending most of the previous season believing she was Taylor Shaw, the long lost childhood friend of FBI Special Agent Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton), actress Jaimie Alexander's amnesiac and tattooed character in NBC's "Blindspot" has finally been given a more tangible identity.

After escaping a CIA black site where she had been held prisoner and tortured every day, Jane eventually found herself back in the FBI, thanks to series newcomer Nas Kamal (Archie Panjabi). The National Security Agency operative had Jane strapped to an advance form of a lie detector and asked all the questions that mattered to Weller and his team.

Jane's betrayal in the previous season had left her former colleagues emotionally scarred and suspicious of her intentions. Her confession that assistant director Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) was dead because of her actions may have thrown a permanent wedge between her and Weller's team.

And although Nas rallied behind Jane's changed loyalty, the team still reluctantly took Jane back, if only to take down the terrorist organization codenamed Sandstorm.

Before Jane met Sandstorm's head, Shepherd (Michelle Hurd), she fully intended to work as a double agent for the FBI. But after Shepherd's revelation that she was Jane's foster mother and Sandstorm operative Roman (Luke Mitchell) was her biological brother, will Jane's loyalties shift back to the organization that inked her and sent her to take the FBI down?

It's a choice between her true family and the family who took her in when she was at her most vulnerable. Jane's life this season will not be any easier than it was in season 1. Her name has also been revealed as Alice Kruger, as most fans of the show already know.

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Martin Gero shared that he was shocked at how quickly the fans figured out Jane's real name from the hints that he and the crew had provided. He also revealed that Sandstorm had been part of the narrative since day one.

"You can't do a show like this and not know what's going on," Gero said. "We always knew Jane's backstory and the shape of the organization behind her," he added.

Meanwhile, NBC has released a behind-the-scenes video in virtual reality showing the amount of work that goes into every episode of "Blindspot," particularly season 2's premiere episode.

"Blindspot" returns to its regular timeslot on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
