Boko Haram has reportedly murdered 86 people, some children, by burning them alive in their huts, Sunday. Charred corpses and rotting bodies littered the streets in Dalori Village, Nigeria after the latest horrific attack.

According to CNN, the extremists, armed with machine guns, open fired on the village. Survivors said they ran into the bushes and hid as they watched their homes burned by the gunmen.

As people fled away from the village, three female suicide bombers wearing vests equipped with explosives made their way into the crowd.

Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency said on its official Twitter account that there were also at least 136 injured. Haruna Mshelia, a commissioner of the Borno State Health, added that 16 people were missing.

The army arrived at the village on Saturday evening but were unsuccessful in overcoming the militants who were armed with guns and explosives. The Boko Haram fighters only retreated when reinforcements with heavier artillery arrived. Survivors now fear another attack.

Attacks by the terrorist group have rapidly escalated in number, killing a total of 6,644 people in 2014 alone, a 300% increase from the previous year.

The extremists aim to impose a stricter enforcement of the Sharia Law in all of Africa, where the South consists of mostly Christian Africans and the north are majority Muslims. They have killed more people than ISIS, to which they sworn their allegiance to last year.

The attack on Dalori Village came shortly after the militants detonated explosives in a market in Gombi, Adamawa state that killed at least eight people. Two nearby refugee camps housing over tens of thousands of people were also gunned down by the terrorists. The group also seized two Nigerian pastors last month after their prayer meeting.
