With fans still grieving over the sudden death of Lance Sweets (John Francis Daley), the hit crime comedy-drama series "Bones" is moving on to other cases to unravel more forensic mysteries.

The next "Bones" episode, airing on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox, will see Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel), together with the Jeffersonian Institute team, investigating the murder of a controversial talk radio host whose body was found in a storm drain.

Booth and Brennan will discover that the radio personality was hiding dark secrets in his life, which consequently will enable them to narrow down the list of suspects. Brennan's team will have the help of a new member, Rodolfo Fuentes (guest star Ignacio Serricchio).

Titled "The Lance to the Heart," Episode 2 of Season 10 sees Booth still struggling to regain his composure after a series of shocking events in the last few episodes.

The episode opens with Brennan consoling Booth over the death of Sweets whom they had grown to love. The new "Bones" season premiered last week with the shocking death of Sweets, one of the main characters of the show, who got killed in the middle of the conspiracy drama surrounding Booth's case.

"Bones" Season 10 has a new guy in James Aubrey (played by John Boyd of "24") who comes in right after the death Sweets. Agent Aubrey will help the team in their quest to dig into a "government conspiracy that goes back decades," according to TV.com.

The question is: Can Booth trust the new guy who has been sticking to him like leech? Aubrey seems to be helpful to the team, but his real motives are the subject of speculation.

There is also the question on why Director Stark (Sterling Macer Jr.) ordered him to tail Booth.

On the death of Sweets and its devastating effect on the fans, Executive Producer Stephen Nathan acknowledged that it will be hard to replace a guy like Sweets who brought warmth and poignancy to the show.

But he said the show, and Sweets' passing, simply capture the essence of life. "These characters ebb and flow, relationships ebb and flow, surprises pop up when we least expect them and that's what life is like," Nathan said in a Zap21It interview.

"If life were predictable and everybody knew what was going to happen and shielded themselves from those painful moments, it would be a sad life ... It's out of tragedy that great things come and it's out of great joy that we experience the pain of loss and sorrow. All I can say is, this is what makes the show still feel alive ten years later," he added.

In another interview, this time with TVLine, Nathan said killing Sweets "was a complicated and very difficult decision for us," adding that Daley, who has played Sweets for seven years in "Bones," has been busy doing some major production work.

Nathan promised that the show will eventually return to its light comedy tone while continuing to provide gripping drama.

Asked if the fans will see another tragic death in Season 10, Nathan said the only other characters who will be dying this season are either really bad people, or the victims in specific cases.
