'Bones' season 12 air date news, update: Brennan to experience 'hard-hitting' things but will be alive by series finale
It looks like "Bones" main character Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) will make it to the end of the series alive. However, that doesn't mean that she won't be having a hard time in the upcoming final season of the FOX crime drama either.
In a recent interview with TV Line, "Bones" co-showrunner Jonathan Collier spilled some details about Brennan's arc in the upcoming season 12, revealing that she will continue with her therapy sessions despite the fact that her therapist was arrested during their last meeting.
"Nothing is off the table, because some very, very, very serious, meaningful, hard-hitting things are going to happen to Brennan," he said.
Back at the FOX series' farewell panel at the San Diego Comic Con earlier this year, Deschanel spoke about her character's mortality, saying that she hopes Brennan doesn't end up dead by the end of "Bones."
"Hopefully not in death," the actress replied when asked how she'd like Brennan's story to conclude. "I hope there's some kind of happy ending on some level, even though I know there's going to be some sadness in the [next] season," she said.
Fortunately for the series star, "Bones" co-showrunner Michael Peterson revealed that none of the series regulars will end up dead by the season 12 finale. However, he also said that "two other people from past seasons will die."
As for what's in store for the main characters in season 12, Collier said that Brennan and FBI Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) will embark on another undercover adventure.
"It's a world we've never been in [that] only Booth and Brennan can do justice to," he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jack Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) and his wife Angela Montenegro (Michaela Conlin), who recently went through some trying times, will hopefully still be together. "I think Jack and Angela will always make it," Thyne said, adding, " I think we'll be OK."
"Bones" season 12 will air in early 2017 on FOX.
