'Bones' season 12 episode 5 spoilers: 'The Tutor in the Tussle' to feature shotgun killer on the loose

After failing to catch the culprit in the case from their previous episode, life goes on for the Jeffersonian Institute's team of forensic experts as they hunt down a shotgun killer in the next episode of "Bones: The Final Chapter."

The case of the week involves a tutor of privileged students who was shot dead by anyone of a number of possible perpetrators, from disgruntled parents to the victim's roommate with a criminal record. Dr. Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and her team will stop at nothing to solve the case, amidst having to deal with clues literally falling from the sky.

The trailer for the next episode shows just how messy things can be with a shotgun killer on the loose. While the team is combing through the crime scene, Special Agent Aubrey (John Boyd) leans on a tree and ends up with a piece of brain matter on his shoulder twice. What kind of confrontation could lead to such a decimated corpse? What kind of a person will this tutor turn out to be if parents with a possible grudge are among their suspects?

Titled "The Tutor in the Tussle," the episode will also feature Brennan's own dissatisfaction with the voice used to record her audio book. She then attempts to prove that she can do it better. As to whether or not she will succeed remains to be seen. If she doesn't, will she learn to accept the audio book voice for its all its merits and flaws. If she does, will this pave the way to a brand new career in voice acting?

Aside from this week's case, Brennan and her husband, Booth (David Boreanaz), will also have to deal with the previous week's realization that Clemens (Mather Zickel), the ex-priest who officiated Booth and Brennan's wedding, may have killed himself to protect Booth from a still unknown killer who's out for revenge.

Aubrey also has something hanging at the back of his mind after his Ponzi-scheming father returns to the States. If and when he gets the chance to talk with his father, will they still be able to patch things up, or is it already too late for a father-son reconciliation?

The next episode of "Bones: The Final Chapter" airs on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 9:01 p.m. EST on FOX.
