'Bones' season 12 spoilers: Fan favorite guest stars set to return

Betty White and Cyndi Lauper are set to return for the twelfth and final season of "Bones."

White, best known for "Golden Girls," first appeared on the forensic comedy drama series on season 11's "The Carpals in the Coy-Wolves" as Dr. Beth Mayer, a veteran forensic anthropologist. She will be returning on episode 10, titled "The Radioactive Panthers in the Party," where she will help Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) understand the "meaning of passion in the workplace," according to TVLine's synopsis of the upcoming episode. This will air on March 14.

Lauper, meanwhile, has a recurring role on "Bones" as Stephanie Susan James, also known as Avalon Harmonia, a psychic who has provided assistance to the Jeffersonian Institute team several times in the past. Her character will reveal big news to the team in episode 11, titled "The Day in the Life." Meanwhile, Dr. Brennan will testify for her former assistant, Zackary Addy (Eric Millegan). The team will also discover that serial killer Mark Kovac (Gerard Celasco) who has a grudge against Seeley Both (David Boreanaz) has escaped from prison. This episode will air on March 28.

The events of episode 11 will serve as the jump-off point for episode 12, the season finale, titled "The End in the End." The team will race against time to catch Kovac. Dr. Brennan will encounter a setback that will keep her from aiding her companions, although she and Booth will be the one to pursue the serial killer in his hideout.

In an interview with TVLine, "Bones" co-showrunner Michael Peterson said, "Booth and Brennan will not be walking away from their respective jobs to start a new, less dangerous life." His statement can mean that the two will continue working with the Jefferson Institute, or it can mean something ominous for the couple.

The season finale of "Bones," which will be directed by Boreanaz, will air on March 28, Tuesday, at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
