The DC Cinematic Universe has yet to reach the home run that fans are expecting. With already three movies out but very little critical praise, DC needs a film that will make fans excited for the DC Universe. One member of the Justice League, Booster Gold, is getting his own feature, but it reportedly will not have any ties to the current DC Extended Universe.

It is also rumored that the movie will be directed by Greg Berlanti ("The Flash" and "Supergirl"). Back in March, President and Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment Geoff Johns said DC had future plans for Booster Gold. Fans thought this either meant the character was getting a TV series or a movie. It looks like DC decided to take the latter path, with a director from the TV universe.

Some fans may look at "Booster Gold" as the "Guardians of the Galaxy" of DC because of the main character's futuristic background and his detachment from the main DC Universe. Berlanti said to Vulture, "As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds. It'd be a separate thing."

When Zack Snyder leaked the image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman, he did so with the tagline, "Unite the Seven." With all the promos released for "Justice League" only showcasing six heroes, the seventh one still remains a mystery to the audience. With this news, however, fans can scratch the involvement of Booster Gold off the list.

Booster Gold's alias is Michael Jon Carter, who is known to be an ego-centric hero. He is actually a man from 25th century Gotham City who travelled back in time and used his knowledge of history to make himself a celebrity in the present time. He has close ties with The Blue Beetle and has a robot partner named Skeets.

"Booster Gold" is still in the early stages of pre-production and has no set release date.
