Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie divorce news: Custody battle settled? Pitt makes first public appearance after divorce announcement
Nearly two months after announcing their plans to divorce, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may have finally agreed on a custody agreement for their six children.
A representative for Jolie has claimed that a legally binding custody arrangement has been agreed upon by both Jolie and Pitt. However, various media outlets also said that the agreement is no more than a voluntary extension of the temporary settlement the former couple reached in September.
In a statement given to the media, Jolie's representative wrote, "We can confirm that childcare professionals have encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides over a week ago."
"In accordance with this agreement, the six children will stay in their mother's custody, and the children will continue therapeutic visits with their father," the representative added. "This has been determined by childcare professionals to be in the children's best interest," the rep continued.
While Jolie's camp admitted that they cannot speak about the details of the agreement, they also expressed hope for the media's understanding of the family's sensitive situation. They reiterated the family's commitment to healing and asked for consideration with regards to privacy.
Since news broke of Jolie and Pitt's divorce filing, the two have said that their main concern is their children's wellbeing.
"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids," Pitt said in September. "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time," he added.
Meanwhile, the "Allied" actor has made his first public appearance since the announcement of his separation from Jolie.
On Tuesday, Nov. 8, Pitt appeared alongside longtime friend and "The Mexican" co-star Julia Roberts at a private screening of the Barry Jenkins drama "Moonlight" in Los Angeles. Pitt's Plan B is one of the production companies behind the critically acclaimed film.
