Brand new 'Logan' trailer drops today
20th Century Fox is finally following up on the first full trailer for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine swan song project, "Logan," which is tipped to drop sometime today.
With just mere weeks away from hitting the silver screen, the marketing machine for the James Mangold flick is starting to kick into gear. A new promo still is seen alongside the confirmation that a new promo clip will soon be dropping courtesy of Jackman himself who is regularly posting updates on his social media.
The Australian actor uploaded two photos on his official Twitter page — first a very basic black-and-white text shot that reads "tomorrow" referring to the new teaser dropping. And then followed by what seems to be a shot from the film itself featuring Laura, also known as X23 (Dafne Keen), riding one of those mechanical horses looking pensive. The second shot was captioned "Waiting" by Jackman, which could be a nod to the upcoming trailer or something imbibed in the narrative of "Logan."
Prior to these updates, Jackman has also released a bleak yet fitting synopsis for his last gig as the mutant via his social media. "In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces," the description reads.
The "dark forces" for the film already confirmed to be Pierce (Boyd Holbrook) and The Reavers. But despite this, no one really knows what is going on with the aged Logan as well as the aged Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart). And while "Logan" is loosely based on the comic book "Old Man Logan," it is still posed to be a far cry from what the source material's overall plot point. This is partially because of other pivotal characters unable to be used by Fox.
Needless to say, whatever it is that is happening in the future-set movie, critics are already pining for "Logan" to be the best film in the storied "Wolverine" franchise. That does not say a lot given that its first two predecessors were not really received well. But the superhero film encapsulated in a raw almost indie vibe may actually be how Jackman would need to hang his Adamantium claws.
"Logan" is scheduled for a March 3 release in North America.
