Brooklyn Nets trade rumors: Nets may trade Lopez to the Bulls
Despite their difficulties in recent years, the Brooklyn Nets always had Brook Lopez as their best player and he was reliable especially on the offensive end. Already in his ninth season in the NBA, Lopez has been the Nets' undoubted leader and his impressive numbers show just how good he is.
However, recent talks are linking him to a move elsewhere in the league. His possible destination could reunite him with his brother.
The rumors are circulating that Lopez may be traded to the Chicago Bulls as the Nets try to make a complete rebuild with Jeremy Lin as their franchise player.
Despite having good numbers, Lopez has failed to bring the Nets to their desired successes, which makes the move something that the franchise can look into.
At the moment, the Nets are struggling with a subpar record which is only eclipsed by the Philadelphia 76ers in the Atlantic Division.
This start might be an indication of how things are going to be down the line and with the long season, it may very well push Lopez and the Nets to end their long relationship.
Looking at what Lopez can offer, his offensive threat is useful as he averages 18.3 points per game while shooting 51 percent from the field.
He may not be a big rebounder as he only averages 7.4. But for a big man, what he offers is finesse around the rim and decent perimeter shooting.
Picked 10th overall in the 2008 draft, Lopez is now entering his prime at 28 years old and may attract big teams to try and pry him away from Brooklyn. He is still under contract and he is earning $21.1 million this year, with his final year giving him around $22.6 million.
It will be interesting to see if the Bulls pursue this deal or if another team tries to swoop Lopez from under them.
