'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' DLC 3 update release date news 2016: 'Descent' DLC features dragons, robots; arriving July 12
"Descent," the third DLC pack to be released for the military sci-fi first-person shooter video game "Call of Duty: Black Ops III," has just been announced to be available beginning July 12.
The upcoming DLC, the latest installment in Treyarch's Zombies saga, features four diverse multiplayer maps and a new Zombies experience.
The four new maps in "Descent" are Empire, Cryogen, Berserk, and Rumble.
According to Activision, Empire is a re-imagining of the fan favorite map Raid from "Call of Duty: Black Ops II." The map has been adapted to make the most of the gameplay mechanics in "Black Ops III." Empire features an authentic Roman villa "recreated by a modern-day eccentric billionaire."
Cryogen, which is located off the Dead Sea coast, is a secluded compound that houses some of the word's most dangerous criminals in cryogenic isolation. In the small circular map, sentry towers guard the prison's cryogenic tubes, which are at the mercy of wall running attacks.
Berserk is a Viking village that is said to be frozen in time. Sentinels guard the entrance to the map's lost civilization as players fight through snowstorms and navigate the map's dangerous terrain.
Rumble, where players will have to fight larger-than-life mechanized warriors, is a stadium in which giant robots battle it out in front of a crowd. Players will have to make their way through pyrotechnics and fallen mechs to get to the central arena.
In addition, the new Zombies experience in "Descent" is said to take place in an alternate universe of Nikolai's motherland, the Soviet Union of the 1940s. Here, players will face a horde of mechanized zombie infantry and survive attacks from fire-breathing dragons amid the raging battle of Stalingrad.
"Descent" will be made available on PlayStation 4 for $15 on Tuesday, July 12. The DLC will be made available for PC and Xbox One in August.
