'Call of Duty Black Ops 3' news: more updates expected to come in 2017
Despite the release of "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" early last month, Treyarch confirmed that they are still planning to release a new content for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" sometime in 2017.
In a Facebook Live event conducted by the game developer Thursday, Treyarch co-studio head Dan Bunting revealed that they will come up with more updates for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" as long as there are people who are playing the game.
However, Bunting opted not to divulge more information about their plans at the moment. "I cannot say anything specifically at this point and time, but I can say that as Treyarch, we are excited about this game ... and as long as they continue playing our game, we're going to continue to support it in the same way," the game studio executive stated in the livestreaming event as reported by Charlie Intel. "We can look forward to another healthy and fun year of updates in 2017," he continued.
Meanwhile, another Treyarch executive, Jason Blundell, dropped a hint that they will add more zombies content in the game. He also said that they will be a new feature that will be referred to as the "Newton's Crookbook," which will be dropped to "Black Ops 3 Zombies." Yet Blundell decided to keep mum about the other details for the upcoming content, saying that he is not in a liberty to talk about anything at this point. This means that the game developers will only release the information about their planned updates before they release it next year.
All in all, the "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" had a total of four expansion packs as of 2016. The final one is called the Salvation downloadable content (DLC), which came out on Aug. 15.
Since "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" is the current installment of the "Call of Duty" video game franchise, the game studio will have to find a way to schedule the release of their planned "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" update next year.
