"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered" recently received an amazing update for Christmas.

As their Christmas offering to "Call of Duty" fans, Activision announced in a blog post that six new maps, two gameplay modes, a slay-load of new goodies, and more have arrived in the remastered version of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare."

As reported by IGN, six remaining maps from the original "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare," such as Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike, and Wet Work, have been added for free. The Winter Crash map, which was originally a PC exclusive, was also made available for playing. Gun Game and Hardpoint were also included as two additional game modes.

Activision also unveiled two special weapon camos, Gift Wrap and Ugly Sweater, which can be unlocked by completing the challenges on Winter Crash.

Aside from the holiday camos, there are also plenty of new personalization items which have been included in "Modern Warfare Remastered." The loot, labeled as "Operation Arctic Wolf," is composed of weapon camos, combat uniforms, emblems, reticles, and calling cards, among others.

The new update is not limited to the usual map additions and new game types, according to Polygon. The latest update also introduced female avatars to the game for the very first time.

Female soldiers were not an option in the original version of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" back in 2007. The idea of playable female characters was first introduced with the launch of "Call of Duty: Ghosts" in 2013, which was the same year that the U.S. military lifted the ban on women serving in combat.

"Modern Warfare Remastered" also added the Supply Drops feature, which was previously introduced in "Advanced Warfare" in 2014. Cosmetic items are obtainable for free through playing the game but they could also be unlocked using "Call of Duty" Points, the game's virtual currency which can be bought with actual money.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered" was made available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC last November.
