Captain America 3 Release Date, New Cast Spoilers: Will Spider-Man, Hawkeye Join the Party?
Spider-Man teaming up with Captain America? Or will it be Hawkeye joining Steve Rogers in the third edition of the Marvel superhero series? Will a new actor play Captain America?
Positive responses to all three questions are circulating in the movie buzz world as "Captain America 3" is set to premiere on May 6, 2016.
There is talk that the third installment of the Captain America franchise will see the Wall Crawler from New York joining the Cap.
Rumors have been circulating that both Sony, the owner of the Spider-man franchise, and Marvel are looking at the possibility of uniting the Marvel cinematic universes.
Although nothing is official, a Hitfix report said Sony is looking to refocus its Spider-Man franchise after the two most recent Spider-Man movies earned mixed to negative reviews and fell below box-office expectations.
Marvel has had tremendous successes with its superhero movies, including the "Guardians of the Galaxy" with never-heard characters. The two previous Captain America movies – "The First Avenger" and "The Winter Soldier" -- were also blockbuster hits, earning Marvel a whopping $872 million in total sales.
Joining Captain America and later the entire Avengers cast is thus seen as a no-brainer for boosting Spidey's popularity.
In a KPopstarz report, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" directors Joe and Anthony Russo were said to have hinted to CinemaBlend that anything could happen in the upcoming Captain America movie.
"Listen, when I started collecting, The Secret Wars was one of the first books I ever bought, so that's always been an obsession of mine to see something of that scale done -- a crossover. I don't know if that would ever be possible, with all the different situations at the studios. But I would love to see a lot of characters on screen together," Joe said.
In "The Secret Wars," nearly all major heroes in the Marvel universe are featured, including Steve Rogers and Peter Parker and their respective alter egos. In the book, the group is transported to a distant planet where they fight off villainous aliens.
But Russo sounded sceptical on such a possibility. "I don't know if that would ever be possible, with all the different situations at the studios. But I would love to see a lot of characters on screen together," he said.
Marvel characters are spread out in various Hollywood studios with Spider-Man under Sony, Fantastic Four and X-men belonging to Fox, while Marvel owns screen proprietorship of the Avengers.
Hawkeye in Cap 3
Taking place after the events of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," "Captain America 3" will reportedly see the Captain teaming up with another Marvel mainstay, Hawkeye.
"I think he's (Hawkeye) a utility guy that can bounce around into their people's universes a little bit, especially like Cap 3," Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner was quoted as saying recently while winking at the camera.
Renner's comment boosted rumors that he may indeed be joining forces with Captain America in the latter's next movie.
New Captain America actor?
Speculations are also circulating that there will be a new Captain America in the film's upcoming sequel. The possibility of Chris Evans quitting from the superhero franchise arose when talk about his six-movie contract with the studios was discussed, according to Screenrant.
In an earlier interview with Variety, Evans revealed that the contract was initially longer which, he said, scared him. "Initially, it was a nine-movie contract. And they said, if these movies take off and do very well, and my life changes and I don't respond well, I don't have the opportunity to say, listen, I need a f-king break. That just scared me," he said.
"They called back and they tweaked the deal. It went from nine [films] to six. I said no again," Evans said.
The actor revealed that he has plans to expand his Hollywood career, and that his contract might hinder him to do that later. "I've known for a while I wanted to direct. But (time) never really opens up," Evans said.
As to who would replace Evans as Steve Rogers aka Captain America, fingers are pointed at Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), the genetically-altered Winter Soldier in Captain America 2.
Stan has already signed a nine-movie contract with Marvel, according to Screenrant.
