Former CEO Carly Fiorina, who recently announced her intention to run in the 2016 presidential race, recently said that if the Supreme Court chooses to strike down state bans on same-sex marriage, she wouldn't attempt to reverse the high court's decision.

Fiorina, who formerly served as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, is the first woman for the GOP to announce her decision to run in the 2016 election.

During a recent interview with the Christian conservative blog Caffeinated Thoughts, Fiorina was asked if she would support a hypothetical amendment that would attempt to overturn a possible Supreme Court ruling that would ban same-sex marriage on a statewide level.

Fiorina responded by saying that she would treat the Supreme Court's ruling as the "law of the land" and would not try to reverse it.

"I think the Supreme Court ruling will become the law of the land, and however much I may agree or disagree with it, I wouldn't support an amendment to reverse it," said Fiorina. "I very much hope that we would come to a place now in this nation where we can support their decision and at the same time support people to have, to hold religious views and to protect their right to exercise those views."

"I think this is a nation that should be able to accept that government shouldn't discriminate on how it provides benefits and that people have a right to their religious views and those views need to be protected. We need to protect religious liberty in this country," Fiorina added.
