'Chicago Fire' season 5 spoilers: Severide in a love triangle?
A couple of days from the return of "Chicago Fire" season 5, more details about Severide's (Taylor Kinney) commitment to a bone marrow donation to a leukemia patient named Anna (Charlotte Sullivan) have been revealed.
With the grueling process, Severide will grow closer to her. As fans know, Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) is still very much in the picture, which had many thinking that a love triangle could form.
However, executive producer Derek Haas revealed to TVLine that while relationships will form in "Chicago Fire" season 5, they will not necessarily be romantic.
"Through some of [the characters'] eyes, it might be, but not all of their eyes, if that makes sense," he explained of the love triangle possibility.
"We're going to continue deepening that relationship [between the firefighters], but less romantically," he went on to say, adding that "a real friendship that could go romantic, but you'll have to wait and see."
The return of "Chicago Fire" season 5 to the small screen will see Severide taking the spotlight. As revealed before, the midseason premiere will be a crossover with "Chicago P.D." season 4, which will start with a run-in between the firefighter and his ex, Lindsay (Sophie Bush).
He gets in trouble with the authorities in the crossover after being framed, which leads him to get the help of his old flame. From the looks of it, the return of "Chicago Fire" season 5 will be heavy yet subtle on in tackling Severide's romantic life.
"Chicago Fire" season 5 will also see Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Dawson's (Monica Raymund) fight to be the legal parents of Louie. With his biological father in the picture, this just got more difficult to pull off. The couple, however, is not one to give up.
"Chicago Fire" season 5 will be back with episode 10, "The People We Meet," on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
