'Chicago P.D.' season 4 episode 12 spoilers: Voight's team to come face-to-face with an unlikely enemy in 'Sanctuary'
The law clashes with religion when a church causes public uproar for harboring two criminals in the next episode of "Chicago P.D."
Justice takes a stand against morality in the upcoming episode of NBC's police procedural series. Aptly titled "Sanctuary," the episode features a church giving refuge to two murder suspects, thereby blocking Voight (Jason Beghe) and his team's investigations. The suspects are wanted for a brutal murder at the park involving a female jogger, and they are spotted on the crime scene by Rixton (Nick Wechsler) and Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins).
But justice is forced to take a step back when the persons of interest make it into the church, and the priest and parishioners provide them sanctuary. The act causes public unrest, as shown in the official trailer for the episode. The priest and parishioners are pretty adamant about keeping the law enforcement outside, but Voight and his team are equally persistent about bringing the two suspects to justice.
The team will try anything to get into the church, even going as far as checking up side windows through which they can slip into. But will they also have it in them to set a church on fire in order to smoke the suspects out? Why would the church be so adamant about protecting these suspects anyway? Will they turn out to be innocent in the end, or does the church has other reasons for protecting them that has nothing at all to do with the law? How far will the Chicago P.D. (CPD) go in the name of their duty?
The episode summary also hints on newcomer Rixton being caught in a lie by Voight. What could this lie be about and how will it affect Rixton's temporary stint with the CPD?
"Chicago P.D." season 4 episode 12 airs on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
