'Chicago P.D.' season 4 episode 9 spoilers: Team investigates a vehicular manslaughter case involving 'Chicago Fire' character Kelly Severide
Firehouse 51's Kelly Severide (guest star Taylor Kinney) finds himself at the center of a vehicular manslaughter case on the upcoming episode of NBC's procedural drama "Chicago P.D." season 4.
Titled "Don't Bury This Case," the show's winter premiere will see a crossover with "Chicago Fire" when one responder from Firehouse 51 gets tangled up in a vehicular accident. According to the official synopsis, Severide is brought into the District for questioning after his car is discovered to have caused a fatal crash. As the investigation moves forward, the team works to find a group of car-jackers who may hold the key to proving Severide's innocence.
Elsewhere, Voight (Jason Beghe) pairs Burgess (Marina Squerciati) with Olinsky (Elias Koteas), who can't seem to hide his excitement about his new partner. Lindsay (Sophia Bush), on the other hand, begins to consider meeting her estranged father who recently got out of jail.
The holidays is right around the corner, and the latest teaser from NBC offers a look at Lindsay's dysfunctional family. In the promo video for the show's Jan. 4 installment, Lindsay finally comes face-to-face with her estranged father, Jimmy (played by guest star Tony Crane). Lindsay's mom, Bunny, led her to believe that Jimmy was still locked up, but it turns out that he has a huge revelation for his daughter. "I've been out ten years," he said, adding, "I was married, which is why you didn't hear from me. We had two boys of our own." However, when Jimmy tells Lindsay that he wants to be a part of her life now, the detective tells him how she feels about him being gone for most of her life.
The series's 2017 winter premiere airs on a special timeslot, but it will come back to its usual spot on Jan.4, featuring Lindsay's family reunion.
"Chicago P.D." season 4 returns to the small screen with a two-hour crossover event on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
