'Chicago P.D.' season 4 spoilers, plot news: Is Lindsay going down with Voight? EP says Lindsay's dad could emerge
Is Chicago P.D. Intelligence Unit Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) heading to prison alongside her boss, Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe)?
In the season 3 finale of NBC's "Chicago P.D.," Lindsay narrowly avoided witnessing Voight murdering his son's killer when he told her to leave the scene before he shot the man and buried his body. The finale was a definitive turning point for Voight, who appears to have given in to his darker side for good.
But while it seems inevitable that the head of the Chicago P.D.'s Intelligence Unit will answer for his crime in the show's upcoming season 4, could Lindsay be charged as well — as Voight's accomplice?
Speaking with TV Guide, "Chicago P.D." actor Jesse Lee Soffer, who plays Detective Jay Halstead, Lindsay's boyfriend in the series, said that Voight is a father figure to Lindsay, and she will, therefore, do what she can to protect him.
"So she's going to try to take care of him," Soffer said. "What's really important for Halstead is making sure that Lindsay doesn't end up in jail, Lindsay doesn't end up going down with Voight."
Soffer also spoke about what's ahead for Lindsay and Halstead, with Lindsay having to deal with what Voight did on top of the loss of her adoptive brother Justin (Josh Segarra).
"She lost her brother, essentially," the actor said. "This season more than any other, Lindsay and Halstead are going to really rely on each other."
Meanwhile, it seems like more drama is coming Lindsay's way in the upcoming "Chicago P.D." season 4. Entertainment Weekly reports that "Chicago P.D." executive producer Matt Olmstead said that there's a major possibility of viewers meeting Lindsay's dad in season 4.
"We've had great success with her mom, who's a handful," he said. "Who's her dad? When do we see her dad? What does her dad mean to her? What would the complications be? So on the horizon there looms Lindsay's dad."
"Chicago P.D." season 4 is set to premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
