The comedy series "Community" does not need a network to find its way back on air. Though it will no longer be seen on NBC, the community-college meta-comedy will be returning with 13 episodes for its sixth season, Yahoo has announced.

It also confirmed that the critically-acclaimed show will debut on March 17 with its first two episodes arriving at streaming platform Yahoo Screen.

"It's a brave new world of post-television TV, but the new season's release strategy is decidedly old-school," a report from Entertainment Weekly said.

"After the premiere, episodes will appear weekly every Tuesday," it added.

Showrunner Dan Harmon immediately clarified that fans of the show do not need to shell out dollars to see new episodes on Yahoo since the Community-on-Yahoo experience would not be subscriber-based.

Harmon explained that viewers just need to go to Yahoo app to watch the latest "Community," which will be advertising-supported, for free.

Aside from being free of broadcast-network standards, Harmon revealed that the structure of Community will essentially be unchanged.

He also assured the show will not feature profanity or nudity, admitting that "a tiny bit more British-ness" will be retained in the comedy.

Producer Chris McKenna also confirmed that the premiere will address the departure of original series star Yvette Nicole Brown.

Although the show's budget is slightly larger this season, both Harmon and McKenna claimed the show would have considerably fewer high-concept episodes.

"I do remain hopeful of doing something a little extravagant. Something cool in the last couple of episodes," Harmon said.

In September 2009, "Community" premiered on NBC. The single-camera series follows an ensemble cast of students at a community college in the fictional town of Greendale, Colorado.

Before getting cancelled after its fifth season, Community received acclaim from critics, being ranked in several critics' lists of the best television series from 2010 to 2012.
