Conor McGregor news: Dana White claps back at Floyd Mayweather Jr. after offensive comments about the Notorious
Despite Conor McGregor's scheduled time off from the ring, the pro mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter is still making headlines thanks to persistent talks about the possibility of him facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a boxing ring. However, this time, his side of things is being manned by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White who defended his arguably most prized athlete against the Money's latest tirade.
TMZ (via Fox Sports) caught up with White last week and the promoter did not pull any punches in terms of defending McGregor regarding Mayweather's very explicit threat about slapping the Notorious in case they bump into each other.
"Floyd's about this tall (points towards the ground), his hands are like peanut brittle, he has to wrap them a million times so he doesn't break his hands. Floyd better hope he don't run into Conor on the street. Let me tell you what, not only will Conor kick his ass, he'll kick the (expletive) out of everyone of his security guards, too," White confidently said. "I would love to be there when Floyd tries to slap Conor McGregor. I promise you, Floyd, you will never try to walk up and slap Conor McGregor and you know it, too."
White's passionate comments continue with him once again double-downing on the possibility of the boxing match that Mayweather admittedly started buzzing about. Earlier this year, the boxer has gone to town claiming that he is willing to come out of retirement to fight McGregor on his turf sports. Not one to back down from a fight, the 28-year-old mixed martial artist took up the offer and a rigorous back and forth has been ensued in the months that followed.
Meanwhile, as all of this is coming down in the United States, across the pond, McGregor seems to be enjoying his downtime spending the holidays with his family including expecting long-time girlfriend Dee Devlin. The UFC fighter was recently spotted on the streets of Dublin when some teens ironically making impressions of the athlete chanced upon him driving by. The whole sequence was caught on video and was posted on Twitter courtesy of a user with the handle @ImScampi. McGregor seems to be in good spirits doing fist bumps with some locals and even smiling at the camera.
As previously reported, McGregor is tipped to be out of the caged octagon until late 2017, at least that is the latest from White. He was originally just to wait until his first child is born but it seems like he is taking some extra time off from fighting.
