Couple Who Served as Flower Girl and Ring Bearer at Wedding 17 Years Ago Marry in Same Church
A couple who served as the ring bearer and flower girl at a wedding 17 years ago married in that same North Carolina church last month.
After 17 years of knowing each other, Adrian and Brooke Franklin tied the knot last month in South Gastonia, North Carolina. The couple attended the same elementary school, middle school, and high school, but didn't start dating until their teen years.
When both Brooke and Adrian were five, they served as the flower girl and ring bearer in a wedding. Brooke admits to ABC11 that although she had a crush on her new husband from the start, it took him longer to warm up to her, as she apparently "got on his nerves."
"I had a crush on him from the start," the 22-year-old newlywed told the local media outlet. "He absolutely could not stand me. He said I got on his nerves. I'd tried to play with him at school and at church and he just didn't want much to do with me at all."
As Fox 8 reports, Adrian proposed to Brooke by incorporating a story from their past. When Adrian first asked Brooke to be his girlfriend in high school, he reportedly wrote the words out on her back using his finger.
At the time, Brooke reportedly did not respond to Adrian, telling him he forgot to add a question mark when asking her to be his girlfriend.
When Adrian proposed, he reportedly had his friends hold a sign that said "will you marry me Brooke." When he got down on one knee, he then handed his soon-to-be fiancé a question mark.
