Crown court expects stalker of a gypsy church pastor to attend hearing
A man is set to appear in court charged with stalking a gypsy church pastor before he committed suicide.
David Jones, served as a minister of the Light and Life Christian Church in Willenhall, U.K., for over 10 years before taking his own life in July last year. Pastor Jones is said to be the first UK pastor of the Light and Life Christian Church.
His funeral attracted 5,000 travelers in the village of Staffordshire, Essington. According to Harry Lee, a close friend of Jones, his funeral is the biggest Romany funeral ever known.
"He was well-respected He was gentle and well-liked. We will miss him very much, but he's with Jesus now," said the pastor's brother.
Meanwhile, Abraham Howard, a close friend of Pastor David's said that he was "hand-picked" by God to serve among the Romany people. Jones was known for his fluency in French and Romany, which he utilized while preaching in nations across the world.
Jamie Jones - not related to the gypsy church pastor - was seen stalking Pastor David between May to July last year. In June, Pastor David reportly filed a complaint about videos of him being posted on social media sites including YouTube. The pastor also complained that his personal phone number was shown in the videos.
Pastor David took his own life on July 11, 2015, and left a note saying that he was a victim of rumors and wanted them to stop. Sam Jones, brother of Pastor David said that the family doesn't want to talk about how he died.
The police conducted an investigation, leading to the arrest of Jamie Jones, 41. Jones was charged with stalking the pastor. The court sets the plea and management hearing on February 16 at Wolverhampton Crown Court, where Jamie Jones is expected to attend.
Life and Light Church currently has more than 20,000 followers across the country.
